This years CAF’s 2016 Patient-Family conference was held July 8-10 at the Hilton San Diego Mission Valley in San Diego, California. Cooley’s Anemia Foundation is a nonprofit organization which funds medical research and education to benefit individuals living with the genetic blood disorder, thalassemia. The major form of this disorder is also known as Cooly’s anemia. This conference was an opportunity for individuals with thalassemia and their family members to meet other members of the community and learn important information that could have a positive impact on their health and their lives. Many inspirational stories were shared by many of the individuals who are living with thalassemia. The Doctors, NP, LCSW, Nutritionist and CAF staff were all so knowledgable and were able to provide answers for the many questions. The CAF staff were all so kind and fun to be around. Hopefully, I will be able to attend next year’s CAF’s Patient-Family conference as a family member and as their event photographer.
